CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Social Development MEC Albert Fritz on Thursday said he was concerned about the high vacancy rate at provincial offices of the SA Social Security Agency.

Fritz was responding to a recent report about Sassa officials allegedly dragging their feet in processing social grant applications.

He said the matter has also been addressed in Parliament.

"I can tell you now this was raised with the ministers of social development's budget vote in Parliament. The vacancy rate was raised in Parliament as a huge concern."

He said this issue needed to be dealt with urgently.
