JOHANNESBURG - Dozens of mourners arrived at Ivory Park North Community Hall to bid farewell to former Co-Operative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka.

He died last week in an Eastern Cape hospital after a long illness.

Shiceka passed away at the age of 45.

The hall was decorated with posters of Shiceka.

Mourners sang traditional hymns and well-known ANC anthems as part of the service.

Affectionately known as "Comrade SS", Shiceka was fired from his post in October 2011.

This after he was accused of using taxpayers' money to fund a luxurious lifestyle.
