Sarkozy and Hollande to stand together
France and Germany agreed to strive for good and trusting cooperation.
PARIS - Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande will appear together in Paris on Tuesday.
France and the world will look on as the political rivals stand shoulder to shoulder.
Hollande is busy putting together a government preparing for the handover of power from Sarkozy next Tuesday.
He has already spoken by telephone with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
They agreed to strive for good and trusting cooperation.
Merkel said she will welcome Hollande with open arms when he makes his first presidential trip to Berlin.
She is adamant that the European Union's (EU) austerity treaty is not open for re-negotiation.
Hollande won the election campaign promising to redraw the pact on EU budget constraints, saying austerity cannot be the only answer to the world's economic malaise.
