WC govt. launches programme for young women

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Social Development MEC Albert Fritz on Saturday said his department wants to give young women, who reside in gang-infested areas, an opportunity to better their circumstances.

Fritz said 180 females aged between 17 and 24 registered to undergo a three-month long youth development programme, which launched on Saturday.

Fritz said the young women will receive training in a variety of courses, which include catering, social development and security work.

The MEC added that fitness and leadership training are other aspects which will be covered during the programme, as these will help create more female leaders in the country.
