Motlanthe to lead e-toll committee
Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will lead a committee for talks with those affected by e-tolling.
JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe will lead a committee on the controversial Gauteng e-tolling system, Cabinet announced on Friday.
Last week, the Transport Ministry decided to delay the project for a month.
But the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria ruled that the project cannot go live without a full hearing.
Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane said the committee will hold talks with various groups.
"It will also meet with appropriate stakeholders in order to find constructive solutions and consensus on outstanding issues."
Chabane said the committee's findings will also help the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral).
"It will move with urgency to make sure that Sanral's stability is not affected in any way."
