Joemat-Pettersson refuses to speak in DA's presence
Tina Joemat-Pettersson refused to address the Cape Town Press Club in Pieter van Dalen's presence.
CAPE TOWN - Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson on Friday said in future, she would only address certain gatherings if she knows who her fellow speakers will be.
The minister initially refused to address the Cape Town Press Club earlier, because Democratic Alliance (DA) fisheries spokesman Pieter van Dalen was present.
Van Dalen is a member of the press club.
She eventually spoke, after van Dalen was asked to leave.
Joemat-Pettersson gave members of the press club an overview of her portfolio's small-scale fishery policy, which was accepted in Parliament on Thursday.
The aim of the policy is to encourage community fishing rights.
At the end of the conference, Joemat-Petersson thanked the press club for the invitation, but she asked to be advised of opposition guests.
Meanwhile, van Dalen told Eyewitness News he was shocked by the minister's attitude.
