CAPE TOWN - Shamelin Moodliar will on Friday reveal details around the kidnapping and return of his son, Nayati.

Nayati, whose parents are South African, was abducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia while walking to school last Friday.

He was returned on Thursday almost a week after his disappearance.

The 12-year-old boy who has Dutch nationality was on his way to the prestigious Mont'Kiara International School when he was bundled into a car.

After the kidnapping, Shamelin had immediately contacted police and then held a media briefing to create as much awareness as possible.

A YouTube video was also uploaded with Shamelin pleading for his son's safe return.

Media in Malaysia had reported that Shamelin had been in negotiations with the kidnappers and had agreed to pay a ransom to secure Nayati's release.

The family is on a two-year working visa in Malaysia where the Shamelin works as a business consultant.
