850 youth to get jobs in WC
Helen Zille said 850 youth will work as interns in government departments this year.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Premier Helen Zille said they have received R16m from government to create job opportunities for hundreds of unemployed youth in the province.
Zille's Advancement of Youth Project (PAY) was launched at the College of Cape Town on Thursday.
The PAY initiative will give more than 800 youngsters who matriculated in 2011 an opportunity to be interns in local government until the end of the year.
"We will deploy 850 youth to work throughout this year as interns in a range of different capacities. Those who do well will be employed on merit, effort and the value they add."
