SABC wants to increase ad revenue
The SABC unveils strategic plan to increase revenue.
CAPE TOWN - The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) on Wednesday said its key objective in helping to revive the public broadcaster was to increase advertising revenue.
The SABC's top brass unveiled the company's strategic plan for the next three-years to the communications portfolio committee in Parliament.
The broadcaster's Group Chief Executive Officer Lulama Mokhobo said, "There was a serious laxity in controls and those laxities were part of the reason why the SABC went into serious debt in 2008."
However, Mokhobo said the public broadcaster was now recovering and they would ensure it continued to spend wisely.
Meanwhile, the SABC in April placed its head of news Phil Molefe on special leave.
There have been wide speculations over this move but it has refused to be drawn into the rumours.
