Carlisle slams Metrorail
Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle has once again criticised Metrorail.
CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle on Thursday criticised Metrorail.
He spent Thursday morning assessing the impact of train delays on learners trying to get to school.
Earlier, Metrorail said it experienced serious delays in its service.
At Phillipi Station, cable theft disrupted services.
There were also defective signals between Kasselsvlei and Bellville Stations.
Carlisle said the delays were having a serious impact on learners in the province.
"As government, we are trying to improve the levels of education and Metrorail is not helping."
Earlier in 2012, the MEC threatened to take the rail operator to court if it failed to improve security and services.
In April, Metrorail cancelled a schedule inspection by Carlisle saying his presence would result in a negative publicity.
