Breytenbach meets with lawyers
Prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach met with her legal team to discuss her recent suspension from the NPA.
JOHANNESBURG - Suspended prosecutor Glynnis Breytenbach is meeting with her legal team to discuss her upcoming disciplinary hearing.
The top prosecutor was leading several high-profile prosecutions, including that of Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli's fraud and corruption case.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed her suspension on Monday.
It also emerged Breytenbach was recently shot at, followed and nearly forced off the road.
Her lawyers are also considering the possibility of taking the NPA on review over its decision to drop the Mdluli case.
Last week, Breytenbach sent a memo to the prosecuting body threatening to go to court over the Mdluli affair.
Many skeptics believe her suspension is related to that case.
According to the NPA, she was suspended because of a high-profile mining rights case involving Kumba Shisen mine and Imperial Crown Trading.
Meanwhile, Breytenbach said she has not been provided with additional security, despite her recent revelations.
