SASSA confident about pension pay points

Pension pay points issues resolved.

CAPE TOWN - The SA Social Security Agency on Wednesday said it was confident that things will run more smoothly at pension pay points in May.

In April, hundreds of pensioners across Cape Town queued for hours for their social grants.

The agency blamed teething problems with a new contractor.

SASSA's regional manager Waldie Terreblanche said, “The situation improved drastically when they sorted out those problems. We are quite confident that the payout this month will run smoothly.”

Terreblanche said they have learned valuable lessons.

“The valuable lesson was that if we implement this kind of system again, we should rather implement a smaller pilot before you go live.”
