M&G welcomes high court ruling
The Mail & Guardian newspaper welcomes a decision by the South Gauteng High Court
JOHANNESBURG - The Mail & Guardian newspaper welcomed a South Gauteng High Court decision allowing it to protect the identities of its sources to a firm doing business with the correctional services ministry.
Bosasa had demanded the paper hand over the names - during its defamation action against the paper.
Judge Moroa Tsoka ruled the paper could keep those identities confidential.
The paper's editor Nic Dawes said, "This makes it very clear that we must continue to gain those people's trust. I think it sets a pretty strong precedent."
