CYPRUS - Lolly Jackson's alleged killer George Louka will remain in police custody until his extradition hearing in May.

On Friday, his extradition papers arrived in Cyprus.

Louka was arrested in March after he had been on the run for two years.

South African authorities want him tried for Jackson's 2010 murder by a local court.

His defence lawyer requested Louka be released, but the judge refused based on the seriousness of the allegations levelled against him.

Louka looked upset and worried as his hopes at walking free were dashed.

Lawyers will now have to study the documents and need time to get a certified translation from Afrikaans.

The hearing will resume on May 14.
