Gauteng police expect to make more arrests after one person appeared in court in connection with a string of multimillion Rand cash-in-transit robberies in the province on Thursday.
A 50- year-old man appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court.
The Hawks and Coin Security arrested the man when they raided two farms in Pretoria, a month after a truck designed to look like a Protea Coin cash-in-transit van was used to steal nearly R1 million in student fees from theTshwane University of Technology.
The police's Tshisikhawe Ndou said those behind the robbery could be linked to 22 false cash-in-transit collections in the Gauteng area, amounting to more than R 5 million.
"We do believe that the suspect did not work alone because the practical scenario when security guards go about their business collecting cash on a daily basis, has a driver and a person who collects the cash."
