Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane on Monday welcomed the news that his striker Thulani Serero has passed a fitness test and will be ready to play in Saturday's crucial African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Sierra Leon at Mbombela Stadium.

Serero had a groin injury following his club Ajax Armsterdam's UEFA Champions League match against Real Madrid last week.

Mosimane said he is grateful that Ajax helped the player to recover on time for Bafana's game.

"Thulani had a groin injury that he sustained on the match on be Tuesday. Ajax laid him off for a few days. The good thing is that they allowed us to have the player. We all knew that he would recover in due time," he said.

Despite Serero's good news, Bafana still has four players in the injury list.

Mosimane added he is confident that they will recover on time for the qualifier.

"[Bernard] Parker has a knee injury. [Siyabonga] Sangweni has athlete foot, [Lehlohonolo] Majoro a groin injury and Lebogang [Mokoena] has been having tight hamstrings but he is responding well. Hopefully all these players will join the training session. It is important we manage these injuries well."
