A two-year-old boy has been severely injured after he was mauled by a dog in Atlasville on Gauteng's East Rand.
Paramedics said the child was attacked at a house in the area on Tuesday afternoon. It is believed that two Boerboels were being kept on the property.
Paramedics said one of the dogs attacked the boy, but it is unclear what caused the incident.
ER24's Vanessa Jackson said when medics arrived on the scene, the toddler was being cared for by his grandmother.
"The little boy was left with deep cuts to the right side of his face. He needed immediate treatment and was taken by ambulance to Life Glenwood Hospital for further treatment," she added.
