Santos midfielder Tasleem Paulse says his faith will help him through Ramadan.
He will be fasting during the holy month despite training every day and playing matches every week.
Paulse said seeing other team mates eat and drink does not deter him.
"By fasting it can only make you stronger, it doesn't make you any weaker. We believe strongly in faith and by fasting we are busy working on our faith to make it stronger," he said.
Paulse said he will not be taking it easier on the field either.
"I'll still keep the same routine because I believe that by changing your routine it's like you're doubting your faith and if you doubt your faith then there's no use in fasting."
Meanwhile, coach Boebie Solomons said it is obvious players will not be at their prime while fasting.
"You can't be at your best when it comes to physical qualities, but fortunately we're playing at night. Most of the games are at night and that's going to help us quite a bit, so at least by the time the guys play, they would have had something in their stomachs," he said.
