A police detective in Zimbabwe is due to appear in court for using a toilet reserved for President Robert Mugabe.

The man has been detained for nearly three weeks at a barracks outside Bulawayo.

The incident happened during the International Trade Fair in Bulawayo earlier in May.

Online reports say Alois Mabhunu, a sergeant in the police homicide section, was desperate to use the toilet.

He is reported to have forced his way past police officers guarding the toilets reserved for Mugabe, but he was arrested and is likely to appear before an internal police court on Friday.

These kinds of cases are shrouded in secrecy, but it will be a lesson to others tempted like Mabhunu, that some toilets are more equal than others.
