The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company on Friday suspended its services due to the strong south easterlies pounding the city of Cape Town.
The wind has been blamed for a decline in visitor numbers to the popular landmark this week.
About 5,000 people usually buy tickets for the cable car daily, but this week attendance has been much lower.
Company spokesperson Sabine Lehman said, “Unfortunately we had to disappoint a lot of visitors, but the wind is too strong. It has really let us down today and we are closed for the foreseeable future.”
