Police were celebrating three major successes on Friday after the arrests of a suspected serial rapist and four alleged rhino poachers.
Two of <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><place w:st="on"><state w:st="on">Gauteng’s most wanted heist kingpins were also shot dead by police.
The illegal hunters were ambushed near <city w:st="on">Heidelberg, south of <place w:st="on"><city w:st="on">Johannesburg. The two suspected gang kingpins were linked to several cash-in-transit heists in <city w:st="on">Durban and <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Johannesburg.
Police are also celebrating the arrest of the suspected <state w:st="on">Gauteng serial rapist who is believed to have been preying on women in <city w:st="on">Johannesburg and <place w:st="on"><city w:st="on">Pretoria for the last few months. He was nabbed in <place w:st="on"><state w:st="on">KwaZulu-Natal earlier today and faces 12 counts of rape.
“Detectives have been hot on the heels of the suspect,” said the police’s Vish Naidoo.
Naidoo said that detectives worked around the clock following the trail to a house in KwaMashu.
