Solly Mokoetle’s attorney on Monday said the suspended SABC boss is confident ahead of his disciplinary hearing.

Mokoetle was suspended as Group CEO earlier this year after being accused of dereliction of duty. He will on Monday morning challenge the public broadcaster’s right to charge him with 17 counts.

The SABC has been in crisis for years now because of leadership problems, financial issues and concerns about political interference.

“Mr. (Solly) Mokoetle has been charged by the SABC board. He hopes to have these charged set aside and return to work as soon as possible,” said Mokoetle’s attorney Jurgens Bekker.
