A 44-year-old Coin security guard was gunned down on Monday as he returned to his vehicle after collecting money at a petrol station outside Pretoria.

The police have not confirmed the amount stolen but Eyewitness News understands the suspect escaped with more than R100,000 in cash after the incident in the Florapark small holdings area.

The police’s Wanda Olivier has appealed to the public for information.

“He was on his way back to the security vehicle when he was shot in his chest and back. The unknown suspect fled the scene with the money. The victim died on the scene. There is no description of the suspect or if they fled by vehicle or foot,” she said.
