The family of a 14-year-old boy who was assaulted, allegedly by a group of farmers in the Robertson area, is demanding they be arrested.<?xml:namespace prefix="o"?>
It is alleged the teen was kidnapped from his grandmother’s home last week and severely beaten.
Eon Fortuin’s family said they still did not know why he was so brutally attacked.
The boy was accused of being involved in a burglary on a farm in the area but his relatives insisted he was cleared of the crime following a police investigation.
Last Tuesday, three men thought to be the owners of the farm where Fortuin’s grandmother works kidnapped the boy.
The teenager’s mother, Fransiena Meyer, said he was dragged from his grandmother’s house and beaten.
She has laid a charge of assault against the men.
It is alleged the farmers are unhappy because the teenager lives on their property with his relative without their consent.
Trade union Sikhula Sonke claimed the farm owners and police have been colluding to cover up the assault.
