SA Airlink said it has an impeccable safety record and has blamed several recent incidents involving its planes on bad luck.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

One of the airline’s jets aquaplaned off the runaway at <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><placename w:st="on">George<placename w:st="on">Airport in the <state w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Western Cape on Monday before coming to a stop on a nearby road.

Seven people were slightly injured.

The incident is the third SA Airlink incident in as many months.

The airline’s CEO Rodger Foster said the figure is simply unfortunate.

“We are concerned obviously about the spate of incidents that we have had. Is it just bad luck? Bad luck does come in numbers unfortunately and we rest heavily on Airlink’s history of excellence and safety,” Foster said.
