An Alpha security guard was shot dead during a robbery at a townhouse complex at the weekend.

He was apparently confronted by another man dressed in a security guard uniform.

This raised concerns criminals were gleaning information from security personnel and ambushing guards.

“The modus operandi is that they target the guys who are coming to help the customers,” said Alpha Security’s Morne Le Grange.

Le Grange said two guards had been targeted in the area.

“In the past three weeks there have been two incidents where the action officers of security companies have been shot. One is still alive in hospital, while the other was shot and killed on Saturday,” he said.
