The Labour Department has confirmed it is not investigating complaints from the public about a bogus agency, which has apparently been defrauding people trying to claim from the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
This is despite a complaint by a <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Pretoria woman that she was directed by an department employee to use an agency to avoid long queues.
Karen Swanepoel says despite paying a fee of R700, she has not received any money from the fund as promised by the company.
She says she is now is turning to the courts to get her money back from the agency.
Swanepoel says while the agency is considered illegal by the Labour Department many people are still being defrauded.
“When I spoke to the lady at the department of labour, she said you do not know how many people come in here,” says Swanepoel.
