The Tshwane University of Technology will re-open on Friday after a three week long strike finally came to an end on Thursday.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

The academic year was originally meant to start more than two weeks ago but was disrupted by the industrial action.

TUT’s Professor Errol Tyobeka said classes will officially start on next week.

“Staff members will be called back tomorrow and at the same time we also going to begin registration but classes will commence on Monday.”

Tyobeka admitted that the strike and the subsequent bad publicity impacted negatively on the institution but said the final cost of the industrial action would only be calculated later.
