The Congress of the People’s executive council meeting has adjourned until Monday.

The party claims no decision has been taken on its presidential candidate but it is understood Reverend Mvume Dandala has emerged as a front runner.

On Thursday evening COPE’S top leadership walked out of the conference hall clearly drained by the gathering which took well over 10 hours.

Officially the party said no decision was taken on who will lead COPE into the elections, but its understood former South African Council of Churches President Reverned Mvume Dandala’s name topped the list of candidates.

Dandala is an outside option in a battle which appeared to be a two horse race between Mbazima Shilowa and Mosioua Lekota.
