Gauteng Premier Paul Mashatile has indicated the province will continue to invest massively in infrastructure development to create decent work.

He also promised more spending on education while opening the Gauteng Legislature in central <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Johannesburg on Monday

Mashitile concentrated on the past few years rather than looking forward, but he did announce a few new initiatives, including more spending on infrastructure.

“These include the G-Link project for the installation of optic fiber across the province, expanding the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Scheme, completion of the Jabulani and <place w:st="on"><placename w:st="on">Natalspruit<placetype w:st="on">Hospitals and initiating new commuter rail projects,” said Mashatile.

He also said education would remain a priority.

“We also strengthen and support early child development this we would do because we believe that the development of a child needs a good foundation,” said Mashatile.

Mashitile was careful to make few promises he knew this legislature’s term was almost up.
