A slew of international films are due to be made in South Africa in the coming days and shooting on one of them has just wrapped up.

The movie Master Harold and the Boys, based on the Athol Fugard classic, finished filming in Cape Town this weekend.

The apartheid-set film stars local actor Patrick Mofokeng alongside Ving Rhames and Finding Neverland’s Freddie Highmore.

The film’s young star Highmore, who plays Hally, had nothing but praise for the South African cast and crew.

“It’s been a great crew and everyone’s pretty good especially when it comes to more emotional scenes,” said Highmore.

His co-star Patrick Mofokeng said the experience was mutually beneficial.

"South African actors, I don’t think we are far off, hey. We are just almost par with them,” said Mofokeng.

The film is due to be out next year.
