Vehicle licensing and testing stations across <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><place w:st="on"><city w:st="on">Johannesburg will remain closed on Monday and possibly Tuesday because of an indefinite strike by metro police officers who marched through the city centre.

The Gauteng Shared Services Centre’s Emanuel Mdawu said it would not take bookings for drivers’ or learners’ license test dates.

“The contact centre is not taking any bookings, we were made to understand that the strike will happen today and tomorrow."

Mdawu said officials were trying to get an extension for those who were required to pay their bookings on Monday.

“What we are working on with the national department of transport is to try and defer the deadline for those who were supposed to pay for their bookings today."

The department assured members of the public that they would be contacted telephonically to arrange alternative dates.
