Organisers of the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><place w:st="on"><placetype w:st="on">Cape<placename w:st="on">Argus Pick ’n Pay Cycle Tour said they were cautiously optimistic that Chapman’s <street w:st="on"><address w:st="on">Peak Drive would be open for the event after a high level meeting between the organisers and the Economic Development MEC Garth Strachan.

Pressure had been mounting on authorities to open Chapman’s <street w:st="on"><address w:st="on">Peak Drive for the cycle tour which is to take place on March 8.

The cycle tour’s Dave Bellairs said Monday’s meeting went well.

I believe the meeting was extremely positive. We’re extremely optimistic that the 2009 cycle tour route will include Chapman’s Peak. We waiting for a formal release tomorrow morning and we expect to go public with the statement by the latest 10 o’clock tomorrow morning,” Bellairs said.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
