The Sunday Times Newspaper has reported that the government would be launching an investigation into South African Airways and its CEO Khaya Ngqula.
The government has received a number of complaints from the South African Transport and Allied Workers Union.
The paper has claimed that a dossier containing serious allegations against the national carrier, has been submitted by the union to the Public Enterprises Minister Bridget Mabandla.
The paper also reported that SAA was preparing to secure a catering deal which was estimated at R3.5bn with a consortium including a business partner of Ngqula and his wife.
Satawu General Secretary Randall Howard said the union held a meeting with the department and that an agreement had been reached.
The minister’s office will investigate the allegations however Howard has declined to give further details on the dossier.
