Leaders of the South African Development Community will meet in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on">Pretoria on Monday to once again discuss a power-sharing deal in <country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Zimbabwe</country-region>.

Talks between Robert Mugabe and rival leader Morgan Tsvangirai broke down last week, bringing no end to the political turmoil in their country.

Power-sharing talks between the two leaders and SADC mediators have taken place before, with no positive outcomes.

Political analyst Herman Hanekom says there is no reason this round of negotiations will be any different.

“I am not very optimistic and neither will I hold my breath regarding a positive outcome of talks in <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Johannesburg. SADC leadership, by majority, have shown that they are in solidarity with Mugabe and the ZANU-PF, and Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC have been sidestepped,” says Hanekom.
