A man has been airlifted to a <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Pretoria hospital after sustaining serious injuries to his leg during an accident while testing a microlight aircraft.

Witnesses at a private airfield in Centurion said the man was testing the craft’s engine when the micro light began moving away from him.

He ran after the craft and jumped inside but the microlight flipped and landed on top of him.

Netcare 911’s Nick Dollman said the man’s leg was hit by the propellers.

“The man has sustained sever injuries to his right lower leg. He’s been attended to by paramedics at the scene and his been airlifted to by helicopter to a private hospital for further treatment,” said Dollman. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
