Filmmakers upbeat despite failure to secure nomination

The filmmakers behind local movie Jerusalema said they were not too upset by losing out on an Oscar nomination.

The movie was <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">South Africa</country-region>’s official submission into the Best Foreign Language Film category but it failed to crack a nod when the nominations were announced on Thursday.

Jerusalema’s producer Tendeka Matatu said there were still some exciting developments with the film’s release.

“We’ve sold the film to the <country-region w:st="on">US</country-region> so it will have a <place w:st="on"><country-region w:st="on">US</country-region> release later on this year. We’re releasing in eastern Europe in the next couple of months. The film has been sold to <country-region w:st="on">Australia</country-region> as well as to <country-region w:st="on">Belgium</country-region>, <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Holland.”
