Two of the powerful helicopters were used in the operation.

They were supported by two more police helicopters to carry less people but was faster and better suited to chase cars.

Although the operation, focusing on Mamelodi and <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Pretoria North, did not yield any arrests the visible policing impact was evident.

The helicopters dropped officers in crime hot spots and police told Eyewitness News that since helicopter operations began last year, violent crime in the patrolled area had dropped significantly.
