The futures of Springbok selectors Peter Jooste and Ian McIntosh hung in the balance with their jobs possibly on the agenda at the South African Rugby Union’s next President’s Council meeting on 21 January.
One of the reasons for the proposed move was to save costs, as well as coach Peter de Villiers’s insistence on picking the team himself.
De Villiers had emphasised that the five Super 14 coaches could be of use assisting with the selection of teams.

Andy Marinos and Arthob Petersen were both temporary appointments last year.
