Police were keeping a close eye on the Refugee Reception Centre in Nyanga.

This after officers had to use rubber bullets on Monday, to bring an unruly crowd outside the premises under control.<?xml:namespace prefix="o"?>

The New Year had brought little joy for immigrants who regularly queue outside the Centre in Nyanga.

Lifting his shirt to show Eyewitness News where he was hit by a rubber bullet, a man said he had enough of poor service delivery by Home Affairs.

Police fired on a group of foreigners after they became unruly, when they spotted a man allegedly bribing a security guard at the centre.
