An inspector from the police’s Organised Crime Unit and a flying squad constable appeared in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The case against the two police officials was postponed to next month.

The pair was arrested last week after allegedly soliciting a bribe from a suspect.

It is understood they threatened an alleged dvd fraudster with arrest unless he gave them household appliances and cash.

Police said when they acted on a tip off from the public, and arrested the inspector, they found several appliances in his vehicle.

The South African Police Service would also conduct an internal inquiry into the allegations and the two policemen might face disciplinary steps.
