Ajax Cape Town retained the top spot in the ABSA Premiership.

The Urban Warriors beat Thanda Royal Zulu in Hammersdale on Sunday to ensure they lead the chasing pack.

On form, <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Ajax striker Mabhuti Khanyeza got the team’s only goal in the 29th minute.

Khanyeza made many attempts on goal causing Thanda Royal Zulu goal keeper Aubrey Mathibe to make numerous saves.

It was Mathibe, who denied <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Ajax a chance to double their lead, when he prevented Shameeg Doutie’s shot from entering the goal.

The home side tried to get an equaliser once the second half got underway but could not make the most of their efforts towards the end of the match.

Meanwhile, <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Santos could not better their league position.

The People’s team were thrashed 3-0 by Golden Arrows at Athlone Stadium on Sunday.

<city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Santos has now dropped to seventh spot on the log.
