The African National Congress has responded to Judge Louis Harms’ ruling and said that the judgment would not affect its decision that Jacob Zuma be the party’s presidential candidate for this year’s elections.

The ANC’s Carl Niehaus said the party would not accept that a decision, taken by the party’s membership in Polokwane, would be reversed on the basis of untested allegations.

“This judgment that we just listened to has got nothing to do with the guilt or not guilty situation of Mr Zuma. It has got everything to do with a procedural matter. It doesn’t mean that Mr Zuma is guilty."
