The trio appeared in the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Pretoria Commercials Crimes Court on Thursday and were remanded in custody.

Authorities suspected that they were a part of a syndicate of 12 people who were arrested late last month for stealing more than R5m from the Presidency since 2006.

The police’s Tummi Golding said, “I think we have to commend our intelligence officers for their hard work and to warn all these specialists who are thinking that they are IT specialists, that we will continue to pounce on them."

Since June last year, police had arrested 78 people for defrauding government.
