Officials have been battling to identify some of the people who died in a crash involving an Intercape bus in the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><state w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Free State earlier this week.

The bus, travelling from <state w:st="on">Gauteng to <city w:st="on"><place w:st="on">Cape Town, collided with a bakkie, killing six people on Tuesday.

Four of the 16 people that were injured in the crash were in a critical condition in hospital.

The police’s Captain Magda Muller said it was still unclear whether any of the people involved in the accident were from <place w:st="on"><state w:st="on">Gauteng.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

“At this stage we cannot release the names yet, because some of the passengers have not been identified yet. The investigation officers are still trying to track down some of the family."
