KwaZulu Natal Premier Sibusiso Ndebele will know on Friday whether he was to retain his position should the African National Congress emerge victorious in April’s general elections.

The committee will release the names of the party’s nominees for the Provincial Legislature and Parliament.

Ndebele, who was seen as being closely linked to ANC party President Jacob Zuma, was tipped to be appointed transport minister should the ANC win this year’s elections.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

The party’s Provincal Secretary and Finance MEC Dr Zweli Mkhize was expected to replace Ndebele.

The premier was known as a Thabo Mbeki’s loyalist but he openly voiced his support for Zuma at an ANC rally in Greytown on Saturday when he and the ANC leader were honoured by a local Zulu chief for keeping the Zulu culture alive in KZN.
