President Robert Mugabe has reportedly appointed eight new acting cabinet ministers in Zimbabwe.

The announcement came only days after firing a number of Zanu-PF ministers who lost their seats in the March 2008 elections.

Mugabe, who was on his month-long annual leave, dismissed the executive appointments of 12 cabinet ministers and deputies who had failed to secure parliamentary seats.

It was reported that the 84-year-old could form a power-sharing government at the end of next month despite a stalemate in unity talks.
