Five men were arrested in Germiston on the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><place w:st="on">East Rand for allegedly stealing copper wire worth R1,4m.

Police said three of the men were security guards employed by the company from which they had stolen the wire, while the other two were former employees.

It was alleged that they stole the copper while the company was closed over December.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
