The latest stage of the 2009 Argentina Chile Dakar Rally proved tough with trucks rolling, cars and bikes crashing and overpowering dust causing numerous accidents.

Only 105 of the original 177 cars crossed the finish line with Spaniard Carlos Sainz winning the stage, followed by Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel and <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?><country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">South Africa</country-region>’s Giniel De Villiers in third.

KTM’s Marc Coma led the motorcycle category after finishing the day in first ahead of Hollander Frans Verhoefen and David Fretigne in third.
