JOHANNESBURG - Water supply has been interrupted to some parts of Johannesburg following a power outage at the Eikenhof pump station.

City Power said this happened on Thursday night. While power was restored before midnight, water supply to Randburg, Brixton, Roodeport, and Soweto has been affected.

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said investigations are underway to determine the cause of the outage.

"The cause of the outage is not known at the moment and teams are busy investigating. The Rand Water board operations were unfortunately affected, with Eikenhof being one of the substations affected. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience that this has caused, and we thank them for their patience."

Earlier in 2024, residents scrambled for supply when large parts of the city were without water for almost two weeks when the Eikenhof pump station was hit by a power outage.
